Studio Monkey Shoulder is back for a second year, in partnership with whisky brand Monkey  Shoulder and Worldwide FM.

This week saw the launch of the second year of Studio Monkey Shoulder, a global music initiative  from Splendid Communications, sister agency Kingdom Collective and Monkey Shoulder.

In partnership with renowned online radio station Worldwide FM and its founder, DJ and  broadcaster Gilles Peterson, Studio Monkey Shoulder aims to support and celebrate grassroots  music communities who are pioneering in their scenes.

After a hugely successful first year, where the brand was embedded in a variety of grassroots  music communities across five markets, 2025 sees Splendid supporting Germany as a new  market for Studio Monkey Shoulder, alongside existing markets (UK, Taiwan, Nigeria, and India). Each of them will receive a £10k fund to bring to life an innovative project that spotlights their scene. The programme also offers communities exposure and connectivity through a global platform,  with a series of films and radio broadcasts.

Ieuan Morgan, Global Head of Communications for Monkey Shoulder, says: “We’re  continuing to build on Monkey Shoulder’s belief that things are better when they are mixed.  Whether it’s our whisky or music scenes that foster creativity, diversity, and innovation, our  ambition for year two is to continue supporting grassroots music scenes for the long term. We  look forward to unearthing new communities globally, helping to bring their powerful stories to the world stage.”

Alec Samways, CEO of Splendid Communications, says: “We are incredibly proud to launch  year two of Studio Monkey Shoulder after the success of year one. Music connects people and  communities, and the Splendid Collective is united by passion for supporting grassroots scenes  and progressive culture. It’s especially rewarding to work on a project that champions this on a  global scale so a salute to the team at William Grant for backing this.”

Applications to the Studio Monkey Shoulder funds are now open, closing on 1st June. To find out  more and apply, visit the Monkey Shoulder website: https://www.monkeyshoulder.com/studio monkey-shoulder
