WALKERS CHRISTMAS• WALKERS
We got the nation sharing their crisps during the festive season with the help of Gary Lineker because, Walkers share bags are actually made for sharing.
The campaign began with the launch of Walkers five new festive flavours; Festive Turkey, Pigs in Blankets, Christmas Pudding, Beef Wellington, and King Prawn & Marie Rose Sauce with a press release issued to media, packaged alongside lifestyle imagery of the five new skus. The Christmas Pudding flavour was immediately divisive and even prompted debate on ITV’s This Morning.
Following the launch, we then seeded a 30-second iteration of Walkers’ tongue-in-cheek Christmas advert which cleverly played on those awkward sharing moments we so often experience during the festive season. The advert performed well and was included in numerous round ups and standalone features around the best Christmas adverts.
As a final burst of activity and to truly end the Christmas campaign on a high, we transformed Gary Lineker into Father Crispmas as drove a Walkers’ crisp-filled sleigh around London’s Battersea Power Station to share his crisps for the first time. We worked with Press Association to capture imagery, video and vox pops as Gary surprised and delighted onlookers by sharing his Walkers MAX, Wotsits and Sensations for the first time in this 30-year partnership with the Walkers brand. The resulting assets were issued to media that same evening alongside the release explaining the activity.
The multiphase campaign was a huge hit and resulted in 346 pieces of coverage with a combined OTS of 937 million.
